Well! Here I am! I´m alive and doing well! For those that sent me
personal emails I will try to get to those next week! Sorry I had SOOOOO
many emails this week so I spent three fourths of my time reading
haha. Man Mal you are SPOILED! I haven´t gotten a single DearElder,
package or handwritten letter! Haha its all good I´ve loved the emails
keep em coming...... BUT fam just because I don´t get my letters the
same day doesn´t mean I wouldn´t love a DearElder now and then, haha its
just as fast for you to send one, and I can be patient for it to get
here!
I apologize that this letter will be short, I´ll send a longer one
next week! Not much time with SO MUCH TO READ. But its great.
KATIE AAAAGH IM SOOOO FREAKING EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!! I hope you
learn spanish in the field so me you and mal can speak together. Except
I´ll speak lika chileno po. And none of you are going to understand me
po. Estai bienpo. And mashory wish shound like she shas a lishp.
Haha it really is funny being out here and hearing peoples spanish.
Haha Chileno spanish is DEFINITELY the hardest to understand.
But spanish is coming along REALLY WELL. My first day in the CCM I
wrote in my journal that it would take an absolute miracle for me to
know ANY spanish when I got into the field and that ANYTHING would be a
miracle. But wow its been an even bigger miracle than I expected. I
really understand almost everything! The only times that I don´t are
when the Chileno members of the church are talking to my companion for
an hour because I might accidentally zone out. So pray for my brain to
have the strength to focus please! Its hard to stay focused for so long
during the day! But when my brain is focused the Spanish just comes! I
can´t converse too much with subjects other than the church or other
common things but I can get along just fine and the speaking is coming
as I practice!
I LOVE my companion. Couldn´t have asked for a better comp! She is
SOOO Great. She is from Peru and she is like my mom and my best friend
at the same time. She understands English well enough that if I slip
between spanish and english she understands (Which I do alot) and she
helps me learn new words. But when its just me and her talking we really
can converse really well! I love my other roomates, its nice to have
one other Gringa to talk in English with when I need a break, and I love
my area!
At first it was hard being by the CCM because it was SO STINKING
FUN! And then it was like I came back and all my friends were gone, so
the first day I was a little lonely and stressed but I´m doing SO MUCH
BETTER now.
One of my favorite things is that we get to give tours around the
temple! SO SPIRITUAL! Missionaries from the four santiago missions bring
their investigators here to the temple and me and my comp take them
around the chapel, temple grounds, and ospedaje (where I lived at the
CCM, the building for everyone to stay that comes from far away to visit
the temple) Its SO GREAT. We watch some of these people that came to
tag along with their spouse, friend, kid, etc who are really skeptical
completely change throughout the tour and in the end they are kneeling
with us praying in tears begging Heavenly Father to let them be here in
the Temple in a year. Its SO COOL.
I have a homework assignment for you Family. You can do it during
conference weekend if you want but I want it by Monday! I have an
investigator and inactive family that has an 11 year old girl who is
really interested and I want her to hear the testimonies of people her
age, so Becca Brynn and Tori (Jake and the other boys can too if they
want) could you write your testimonies and then mom can you translate
them into spanish for me? If so, that would be GREAT
Haha so many things left and so little time because I want to send
pics haha so I´ll tell you more about miracles I´ve seen next week
sorry!!
With love

PS apparently I was talking in my sleep last night, my companion
said I was giving tours in spanish hahaha well I guess I´m getting in a
lot of practice!!
ps the pics are of me and elder schade, me my comp and the first
lady we gave a tour to, and of me and my roomies with my teacher hermana
leyton who was one of my teachers for 6 weeks in the mtc, she got
married to another teacher haha
