First Divisions...Saving Souls and Cats!

So I had soooooo much to say this week and.... no time at all, the place where we usually do internet was closed so now I´m on a suuuuper old crappy slow computer.

Mom: Haha.... the skirt....... I wore it as a dress once!Ill try to attach a pic of that.  But its a bit long and big. It was really cold when I first got here and it snowed and stuff but now its not that bad, my comp thinks she is gonna freeze to death but for reals its not that bad. I just wear double fuzzy tights like the ones mal was talking about and a wool liner under my coat and I´m just fine. So long skirts don´t make a big difference, plus if it rains long skirts get soaked (because the water comes up pretty high) and normal skirts don't. But I will give it to a latin companion if I find one tall enough to use it haha because it would go to the floor on most of them haha

Wow the house is looking so different!!! Dad I'm glad you finally got your shutters!!

Wow cedar city is in like a week. So weird. I can´t believe its almost been a year.
Mom you would be glad to know that President called me and wants me to help train the mission on family history work. I think I´ll be talking to my zone about it tomorrow. He asked me to go find names on the computer with my comp to practice family history work for chileans. Its pretty interesting. I´m just so grateful for the census in the US!

I still havent gotten my comp a camera, they were all out at the big walmart we went to today. Bummer.

My camera almost broke, it fell off the table and landed on the lense, it wouldn´t come out and I was super bummed thinking that I was gonna have to find somewhere to get it fixed. But then I said a prayer in my head (and apparently the other hnas did too but I didn´t know until later) and I just felt like blowing on the lense and boom it came out.... crazy. But yeah it was a little miracle.

Well the funny but then sad part of this week happened during my divisions this week. I went with hna burnett (an hna that is going to return home soon but is sooooo awesome) and as we were going to our next appointment we saw a lady dragging a dead cat across the road. so we went to help and it wasn´t really dead. but it had been hit by a car. So we ended up putting it in hna Burnetts scarf and taking it to the vet. It was kinda crazy. In the end we ended up having to pay a bit for taking it in there and to get it put down... the poor thing was in a lot of pain and either had to get its legs cut off or get put down... it was sad, but funny how we ended up sharing the gospel with the girl and saving a stray cat, getting cat hair all over us, holding it down while it got its iv put in etc. It was only to have to put it down.... it was crazy. What an adventurous first division it was haha.

Well. there was a talk I loved that I thought I would share with you all, its called "Swallowed up in the will of the father" by Neal a Maxwell. Its about  the law of consecration but I really likesd what it said about sins of omission not commission. He basically said that many of us get stuck in sins where we aren´t doing anything bad, but we are leaving a lot of good undone. It was really interesting and its sooooo true. The thing that holds so many of us back is simply our lack of doing things, not that we do bad things we just have so much more good that we have left to do.

Anyway I soooo have to go,

love you all!

This Week!

Mal. Its funny because I finally feel like I relate a little to your mission and your experience. at first there was just no comparing the two they were so different. But yeah so cool.

Katie hahaha I can{t believe its so hot where you are. Wierd. And.... I want your address. Please.

Dad. Yep can you believe it? A couple more weeks and I finish a year! Today in my email I had to fill out info so they can by my plane ticket home. WIERD.

Well. I always have a hard time of thinking of something to write. There is so much but I just feel like it takes forever to explain. We had an AWESOME training with Pres Wright this week for the whole mission, it was basically like zone conference but not because there are only 4 zone conferences a year so this was like an extra one just because. we learned about the powers of the atonement. What I love is learning about the poder fortalecedor or habilitador. In english that would be... the strengthening or... ability giving power? I don't know?? but yeah president talked about how soooo many prophets have said that the most important but least understood principle or concept of the gospel is the atonement. Its so true, I feel like most of the time in YW or in primary I just thought about how Christ died for me so i can repent, but what he did goes a whhhhhooooooolllllleee lot farther than that, so boys I want you guys to look up talks about the atonement and study them because it is sooooo cool. The atonement helps us to do things that wouldn{t be possible without it. So if you want to be better but you don{t feel like you are succeeding, if you want to do more but you just don{t know how, etc the atonement has the power to help us do and be more than we can possibly do or be on our own. (so some talks I love are "The Atonement and the Journey of Mortality" by Bednar or the one he gave last conference about the pick up truck. or there are 4 articles that Hugh Nibley wrote about the atonement a long time ago... mom and dad if you havent read those ones I think you might like them, if you have read them... its always good to read them again.) But yeah it is sooooo important for us to use the power of the atonement in our lives to serve better, do better, and become better.

Investigator wise, we have a lot of investigators. They are AWESOME. They haven{t been progressing much but man are we trying! Ive really been trying to push myself to invite people to do things more, its so easy to invite people to do just the stuff thats easy but I{ve been trying to challenge people to exercise their faith a little more.... hopefully that will help! If you could PLEASE pray for Santiago and Sylvia, I hope they come to church this week (they said they would but like 3 percent of the people that say they will come actually do... thats why we need the prayers :) ) I am LOVING this sector and the chance that I have to serve here with my companion. what fun.

Well I have to go now!!

Love you all!

2nd Transfer in Sotero de Rio

So the crazy think about transfers this week: President pulled me aside today and told me that I had been called as the new sister training leader (because one or two were going home this transfer) shoot. I just about died. So pray for me lots alright? I'm excited because I want my companion to get to know lots of new girls which was fun for me when hna altamirano was called as a leader and I got to go on exchanges a lot, and I'm super excited to get to see hna A more because I just love her to death but man.... I've got a lot to improve to be a leader, I'm not sure I feel cut out for it but I'm excited for the adventure!!! I'm also really excited to go to the meetings and stuff to learn more in the classes because president knows soooooooo much and every meeting is like suuuuper awesome because I leave feeling like I just learned a ton. Ok I don{t even know how to explain it in english. I was about to break out into chilean. but none of you would understand.... except mal maybe.

So TIME IS FLLLYYYYYIIIIINNNGGGG in the Mission!!!  AND I have to say... WAY TO GO GERMANY!!! WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Haha sorry mal...

Well this week was a little crazy. I got super sick and was throwing up and in a ton of pain but I got a blessing and lost a day and a half of work but I'm doing pretty well now, but man it is MISERABLE being sick in the mission. But it helped me realize how grateful I am for the priesthood in my life. Wow. while I was getting my blessing from one of the hermanos in the ward I felt sheer gratitude for the restored gospel. I KNOW like completely KNOW that this is the true church here on the earth and that the priesthood is a real POWER that we have access to here on the earth through priesthood holders. So great.

Well. I don't have much time because we took forever getting here because it started raining and we had to wade rivers and lakes to get here basically haha but it hasn't been too cold this week up until now!

All in all this week I just was happy, sickness and all. Happy happy happy. I feel so good to be here and so good looking back on these last 11 months realizing that I've learned A LOT. And I have grown up A LOT. I can still be a better missionary. I need to contact more..... I need to do better at a MILLION things but I sure am trying. I'm learning how to count real success instead of feeling bad for what I lack in numbers and idk I'm just happy. I feel so at home here and I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY. I love it. Wow I cannot believe I only have 7 months left to serve here in this mission but I sure hope I can take advantage of it.

Well. I have to go. But I love you all and I LOVE hearing from you. This week it was such a treat to open up my email and see so much in my inbox!! Love you all!

Saying goodbye to hna taylor (a roomate in sotero)
I saw abraham (one of my recent converts from pocuro, he came with another hna in the ward to drop off the hnas and their stuff) it was good to see he is doing really well!

Gringas in our "blanket pants" they sell these pants like everywhere in the ferias (flea market type thing) so we bought some and took pics before hna Taylor left to her new sector today.

4th of July

Well, it looks like you all had a fun 4th of July! Alex. I too am loving the pants.......... they are very...... interesting haha.

So for the 4th of July we made hot dogs the american way (not chilean completos with avocado and tomato on top) and we made home made Icecream. It was freeeeeezing cold because we had to shake the bag of ice around like crazy and it was night time and super cold but hey traditions and traditions and they{ve gotta be kept.

Agh jealousy. I wanna go on trek toooooo!!!!! Mom Its interesting out here how I{m really starting to pick up on many of Satans tactics and man flojera (laziness) is THE NUMBER ONE problem. Its really a bummer because when we invite people to do things and they tell us they don{t have "ganas" or that "no me nace" (which is the number one excuse we get)  its like.... shoot. What do you do? Satan gets people soooooooo comfortable and lazy that getting them to do anything thats out of their comfort zone is nearly impossible. I was reading about that in the scriptures the other day and Idk if I already shared this scripture with you guys but if I already did, read it again because it rocks. In 2 nephi 28 verses 21 and 24. I really like the spanish translation of verse 24 it says "Por tanto ¡Ay del reposado en Sion!" I think in english it says wo to the at ease in zion or something, and in spanish reposado means basically resting. I think that is so true we cant be sitting around at ease in our comfort zones and we cant be resting in zion. There is always more to do, always more people to serve, and always more to be. So have fun on trek mom, and just be glad that you are making the choice not to be resting at ease in Zion.  Its soooo important to keep trying to do better and be better because if not we too will be in that category of those at ease and resting in zion.

Well. Lets see.... what happened this week. We are working with an investigator named Belen. She is 15 years old and we are teaching her whole family but so far she is the one that is participating the most. Her dad has been having a really hard time because his brother is dying in the hospital so if you could all pray for the family Pinchetti: Mauricio (the dad), Andrea (the mom), Belen, and Christian (the brother of mauricio) because they need lots of prayers!! Also if you could pray for Isidora Navia I would greatly appreciate it.

Well. I have to go... wow the time flew by today, but I will talk to you all next week!!!

Another Great Week!

Well. I am so completely jealous of you all. I miss lake powell so bad! But no it didn´t look exactly real because you were with other people so its not the same, doesn´t make me feel as bad. But father, I hope you know we better be going to lake powell next year because there is no way on earth I am gonna let myself go 4 years without a lake powell trip. So prepare yourselves ;)
Mal. You don´t know what a completo is? Its like the chilean version of a hot dog. Remember kid history when ye is like BUT if you buy 2 completos.... its only 2 dollars! BUT.... etc. Yeah its a hot dog with palta, tomate, mayo, ketchup, etc its super yummy and very messy to eat. And yeah renca Ive heard of that, if she does´t know where I´m at you can tell her I´m in puente alto, I´m pretty sure she would know where that is.

Oh trek... I love it so much... hmmm what to say. Trek is what you make it. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING. But if you go with the right attitude it is  life changing experience. In the scriptures it always talks about the righteous people being the ones to REMEMBER the captivity or salvation of their fathers. Trek is just that, out opportunity to remember and grow closer to God by remembering the sacrifice of our ancestors. I don´t think there is a more beautiful way of remembering and growing close to your pioneer ancestors than trek. It helped me understand what close relationships we really have with these people who gave so much so that we could live the lives that we do!

SPENCER!!! WAY TO FREAKING GO!!!!! 33 on the ACT!!!! THAT'S AWESOME!!!!! But shoot you beat me... oh well you owe the score to me because If I hadn´t gotten a 32 you never would have tried to get higher.... haha jk way to go man.

Jake. Freak your hair is getting long. I assume mom is bugging you about getting it cut.

Dooster becca . You are growing up! Looking soooooo pretty!!!!

Well. CHile is no longer in the Mundial. Or the world cup I guess haha. That was a crazy game against brazil. We were so worried because everything was SILENT. Normally we can keep up with the score by listening to the neighbors, they go craaaaaazy with their horns and whistles and stuff so you can always tell when their is a goal but this game with the 30 min overtime and the penales (I dont know wht it is called in english) was super hard to follow just by listening to the reaction of the neighbors haha. But in the end its good because it sooooooo got in the way of missionary work.

So this week started off good, but when I read that y ou guys were going to lake powell I´m not gonna lie I ws a little sad. I calculated right about when you would have been doing each thing haha so I was with you in spirit. So when I got home from pday I just knelt down and told Heavenly Father that I didn't want to have a homesick week and I asked him to help make this one week worth giving up a lake powell trip, because  i know that in the end a mission is WAAAAY BETTER, But I wanted to feel like this week specifically I was needed here and not in Lake Powell. It was great. We had the highest numbers that I´ve had my whole mission. Not that the numbers matter, but for reals we visited soooo many investigators and are seeing lots of potential progress so please pray for the people in this sector to progress because they are sooooo close. If you could pray specifically for:

Gonzalo and Ana Maria
Andrea, Belen, Mauricio, and Christian Pinchetti
Jackeline Adasme
Jose, Rosa, Fernanda, and Isidora Navia
Hector and Marta
and Clementina

Well you will be glad to know that I was able to use my piano skills this sunday in sacrament meeting and man were they really tested haha. It was quite the adventure. We were singing the last hymn in sacrament meeting "The Spirit of God" and 3 of the little kids came up on the stand to see me play.... One of the mom came and grabbed two of her kids but the other kid, Rola (like 5 years old, he is the son of our Recent Convert Nancy and he is known for being the little stinker in primary) stayed and was watching, he kept calling my name and trying to get my attention but I was playing piano so I couldn't do much. So he started waving his hands in front of my music and he bumped the book that was propping up the hymn book. So that book fell on to the piano and made a huge noise and the book  was playing from fell over. So I stood up while playing to read the book that had fallen on the piano, my comp was trying to lead the music while trying to prop my book back up but it didn´t work so I told her not to worry about it. But then rola came around the piano and tried to put it back up with the other book but he had it half closed and was shaking it back and forth which was suuuuuper hard to read, and then he came up on the bench to put it back up but he was right where my hand needed to be to play the notes, so I was trying to keep playing, read the music, tell him not to worry about it and to just leave it there and get my hand to the right notes which was nearly impossible. Finally an 85 year old lady came and carried Rola away screaming and I finished playing. Hahaha it was funny, everyone came up and congratulated me afterwards for doing a good job of playing the hymns we all had a pretty good laugh.

Well I gotta go, great to hear from you all! Have a happy 4th of July!

With love
